Depression Therapy

Have you lost your joy?  Have you lost the spark for your passions and relationships that were meaningful to you? Have you been feeling easily irritated, always tired, feeling worthless or hopeless? You try to convince yourself you have no reason to be so down, but you can’t get yourself out of this deep hole no matter what you try.

Many people misunderstand depression. Depression is not sadness. Oftentimes, people experiencing depression feel numb. Depression can also cause fatigue, low energy, isolation, lack of motivation, as well as changes in sleep and appetite. Depression is very common and can be treated through a variety of modalities. Whether it is through the use of replacing harmful thinking patterns about yourself and others through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), teaching healthy ways of coping and emotional regulation while exploring mindfulness techniques in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or desensitizing triggers from disturbing memories and fears by installing positive beliefs about self through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

Since each person is unique, your treatment is catered specifically for you, your goals, and your needs. Your therapist is here to listen, compassionately and nonjudgmentally walk alongside you, as well as equip you with healthy coping skills and other helpful tools as you reclaim your joy.

Anxiety Therapy

Do you find yourself worried about everything: relationships, work, finances, the future? Are you constantly trying to avoid making mistakes? Do you tend to think about worst case scenarios? Is your mind racing, leaving you completely exhausted at the end of the day?

Anxiety takes a toll on you mentally, physically, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. It makes it hard to find rest. You feel overwhelmed. You never truly experience peace. You miss out on living in the moment because your mind is elsewhere.

At Eden River Counseling, we help you find healthy ways of managing anxiety symptoms. Each person is unique; therefore, we use a variety of methods that are crafted for each client’s needs. Whether it is through the use of replacing negative thought patterns through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), teaching healthy coping, emotional regulation, and mindfulness in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), or desensitizing triggers from disturbing memories and fears through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). These methods, along with many more, can assist you in overcoming the overwhelming effects of anxiety.

Couples Therapy

Have you lost intimacy and connection with your spouse or partner? Are you constantly on different pages? Are you struggling to communicate and understand one another? Is the passionate fire you once experienced for each other a long-lost memory? Or maybe you’re engaged and looking for tools to help you build your marriage on a solid foundation.

Licensed Professional Counselor, Christina Alston, is certified in PREPARE/ENRICH and Gottman Level 2 trained for marriage therapy. She is equipped to assist you and your partner as you work through awareness of yourself and each other, improve communication, build intimacy and connection, as well as create and implement goals together that contribute to the restoration of healthy rhythms in your relationship.

Christian Counseling

Is your relationship with God an integral part of your life? Or are you in a dry season where your faith isn’t what it used to be? Have you questioned your faith because you haven’t been able to pray your problems away? Do you have doubts and need a safe space to process?

The therapists at Eden River believe that true healing comes when we address mental health holistically: body, soul, and spirit. Your faith can be a powerful tool in the healing process. We are equipped to help incorporate aspects of the Christian faith into session depending on your level of comfortability and preference. Therapists can do so by integrating God’s Word into sessions while also acknowledging the importance of psychology and research. We are not here to simply quote scriptures. We create a safe space for you to bring your doubts, fears, and pain so that we can work through them in a caring, understanding, and non-judgmental environment.

Our office has a prayer room available for use whether you are waiting on your therapy session or needing a quiet place to pray and decompress after a difficult session.

Retreats

Are you a leader? Are you the “strong” one, the one everyone relies on and goes to for help? Have you lost yourself along the way? Have you been living on autopilot, stuck in a cycle of just walking out your day-to-day roles and responsibilities? If you have neglected self-care or felt guilty for prioritizing self, it’s time for an AWAKENING!

When you are overwhelmed, you spend most of your time simply trying to survive. The Awakening Retreat is designed to help you explore aspects of your identity that have been overshadowed by the roles you play and the stressors of everyday life. It’s a time to stop, look, analyze, and sort out what has gotten in the way, and keep moving forward. You will learn to find your truth through teachings, experiences, and thought-provoking activities. It’s time to put yourself first. You will leave, not only feeling more refreshed, but with a renewed sense of purpose and clarity.
